The Moving Wall (Hamburg Twp)

THE MOVING WALL (Hamburg Township), Thursday, September 12 with KSU @ 8:30 AM from the dealership.

We will be riding from the dealership to the Moving Wall rider escorts meet up at Cracker Barrel in Brighton (7925 Conference Center Drive, Brighton, MI 48114).  About 28 miles for about 1 hour, avoiding highways.  We will then line up at the service drive at the Cracker Barrel restuarant in Brighton (the chapter ride over) and join the general public's volunteer rider escorts group.  At 9:30 AM there will be a safety meeting and then departure at 10 AM for Manly W. Bennett Park (10405 Merrill Road, Whitmore Lake, MI 48189) with a police escort.  This entire group will escort the walls as they enter Livingston county.

No pre-registration or donations or fees are required to participate.

The Moving Wall is the half-size replica of the Washington, DC Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country for thirty plus years. When John Devitt attended the 1982 dedication in Washington, he felt the positive power of "The Wall." He vowed to share that experience with those who did not have the opportunity to go to Washington.

GoldStar Tribute Wall
The Tribute to America's Fallen Foundation Inc. through the GoldStars Tribute Wall seeks to honor those that paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Please join us in this very special mission to insure their sacrifice was not in vain.

Local riders will escort the walls to the site as they enter our county.  A Huey helicopter is scheduled to join overhead of the escort as the walls reach the final display destination (West Side, Manly W. Bennett Park. 10405 Merrill Rd, Whitmore Lake, MI).

Huey Helicopter Rides
Experience flying in the UH-1H Huey with the doors wide open (weather permitting) and the wind rushing through the aircraft.  Rides can be purchased in advance or at The Manley Bennet East Park Flyers Club Airfield, during the event while available.

Veteran's Village
Veteran's Village is a collection of veteran's support organizations on-site to provide visitors and their families direct access to the many support services available.

Walk Through History
Various eras of military history on display throughout the event. Equipment, vehicles, encampments, re-enactments and a mobile military museum.

Missing Man Table
Each item on the Missing Man Table represents the emotions and feelings reserved for those who did not come home. The ceremony symbolizes that they are with us, here in spirit. 

Volunteers Needed
We could not pull off such a large scale tribute to our service men, women and their families without the overwhelming support of our volunteers.
